Scriptures for Thought

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

posted Jul 20, 2009 6:24 PM by Kristen Veth

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
~Proverbs 3:5-6

This especially applies to us now as we work toward building His Church in West Valley City, Utah.  Use this Psalm to lead your prayers while we embark on the journey of erecting a House of God!

Revelation 3:19 (NIV)

posted Jan 21, 2009 8:47 AM by Kristen Veth   [ updated May 4, 2009 2:18 PM ]

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."
Revelation 3:19
New International Version

God gives us a way to improve by pointing out the things in our lives that are no good for us.  The next time you get a guilty feeling, you should examine what that means for you in your walk of faith as a Christian.  Ask for forgiveness and turn from your wicked ways.  God shows us these imperfections to help us become more like Him.

December 29, 2008- Mark 12:1

1 " And he began to speak unto them by parables..."
                ~Mark 12:1

Jesus spoke to His disciples and the people in parables.  He used the situations and circumstances that people of that time were commonly used to.  We can learn and teach from our everyday situations as well.  If you experience difficulty understanding the teachings of Christ, look to the parables for answers.  Try to imagine a similar situation that you could picture happening in modern times-you may be able to use this technique to learn from the parables.  Prayer will also help you to understand the scriptures.

November 19, 2008- Deuteronomy 4:9 (KJV)

"Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;"

~Deuteronomy 4:9

If you have slipped into the ease of staying home on Sunday and watching the game or lounging around the house, or find yourself missing more and more church events, remember what you have been witness to.  What have you seen God do in your life?  In your parents lives?  Did He not bring them out of poverty and war.  Did He not bring you to safety?  Did He not whisper comfort to you when you were hurting?  Do not forget what God has done for you!  Remember and pay respect to your Creator!!

November 1, 2008 - Deuteronomy 6:4-10

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. [1] You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

10 “And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities that you did not build,

In everything we do and  in every way we do it, you have the opportunity to give glory to God... to spread His name to everyone and write it upon everything.  Do not miss your chance to enliven the lives of others by spreading His glorious Word!!

October 16, 2008 - James 1:22 (KJV)

posted Oct 16, 2008 9:37 AM by Kristen Veth   [ updated Nov 1, 2008 9:44 AM ]

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

How many times have we heard the words of wisdom from our leaders in church?  How many times do we nod in acceptance of these truths?  How often do we think to ourselves, "if only more people could be like that!"  And yet throughout the next week we do not act upon the teachings we have just received.  Do not forget that actions speak louder than words.  Show the world that you are a christian, don't just say that you are.

September 25, 2008- Exodus 32:25 (NIV)

posted Sep 25, 2008 8:46 AM by Kristen Veth   [ updated Sep 25, 2008 8:56 AM ]

25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies.

September 13, 2008 -Psalm 30:2 (KJV)

posted Sep 13, 2008 1:18 PM by Kristen Veth   [ updated Sep 13, 2008 1:49 PM ]

" O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me."
                                                                                     ~Psalm 30:2
Are there weaknesses in your life that keep you from experiencing the fruit of the Spirit?  Confess your sins and lay your problems at the Lord's feet.  He has the power to heal and save you from any troubles in your life.

September 7, 2008- Psalms 4:5 (KJV)

posted Sep 7, 2008 11:09 AM by Kristen Veth   [ updated Sep 7, 2008 11:17 AM ]

"Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord."
                                                                                                            ~Psalms 4:5
What do you sacrifice for the Lord?  Are you going out of your way to work for Him?  Are you making it your business to offer yourself to Him as a vessel to use however He sees fit?  Make a promise to God this week to sacrifice your time and energy for Him.  After all, look at how much He has sacrificed for us!

Sept. 1, 2008 - Romans 10:9 (NIV)

"That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Praise the Lord!  We have salvation in Jesus!  By His Grace we are saved and so long as you believe it in your heart, you will live eternally with our Father in Heaven!
